The Deputy Ashanti Regional police commander, ACP David Agyemang Adjem together with the Ashanti regional MTTD Personals has embarked on operation to check recalcitrant drivers who violate road regulation.
According to him, they recorded 1,921 accident cases from January to June of which 2,309 were injured and
240 were reported dead in the Ashanti region.
He added that, per their statistics they record ten
cases of accident every day of which 11 get injured and two die at an alarming rate.
He revealed that, the
Police Personals are going to arrest and prosecute drivers who have more than
the needed seats in their cars.
ACP David Agyemang Adjem in his final statement disclosed that, they are also going to give education to the drivers and the pedestrians to know the implications and the outcome when regulations on the road is being violated.
“For the first six months of this year, we have had a total of 1,921 road traffic accidents. Out of these, we have had 240 deaths and 2309 injuries", he said.
From these figures, we deduced that our region records about ten accidents each day and about 11 injuries every day and the shocking one is that, we lose two persons every day in the region.
He finally stated that, they are going to put measures in place to make passengers feel comfortable in their various vehicle they will board and ensure drivers to obey rules and regulations on roads to curb accidents in the region.
