OFINSO SOUTH: PRESIDING MEMBERSHIP ELECTION POSTPONED INDEFINITELY AFTER 4 ATTEMPTS.

The Deputy Ashanti regional minister Mrs Elizabeth Agyemang on Monday, 2, March has postponed indefinitely the election of presiding member in Offinso south in the Ashanti region for failing to elect a Presiding Member in 4 attempts.

The Maase electoral Area Assembly member Mr Baah Emmanuel a.k.a Hon Bio polled 17 votes whiles Namong West Electoral Area Assembly member, Mr Brefo Boahen Vegas also polled 26 votes in all first and second chance elections on Monday, 2.

None of the aspirants could garner two -thirds (44) votes of the house to be elected as presiding member.

The Deputy Ashanti regional Minister, Mrs Elizabeth Agyemang addressing the assembly members at the Assembly Hall, expressed her displeasure about the assembly’s failure to elect a Presiding Member on several occasions thereby postponing it indefinitely.

She expressed with great concern fashion and division within the NPP Party in Offinso south and threatened to report and briefs the Ashanti regional NPP executives on the wreaking state of the party in Offinso South.


The Baamuhene for Offinso Traditional Council Nana Kofi Boahen, a government appointee for Nananom, lamented on the slow pace of developments in the area this year attributing to the lack of presiding member for the assembly.

Nana Kofi Boahen said, the Traditional council with urgency must sit around the table, to decide their actions to help the Assembly elects its presiding member so as to help foster development in the area.
